***The weekly Electronics Recycling dropoff in Hoffman Estates is being held every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall.***
To assist residents with collecting old electronics and to ensure environmentally safe recycling of these materials, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) developed an Electronics Recycling Drop-off Program to collect electronics on an ongoing basis at no cost to Hoffman Estates residents and other SWANCC Community villages such as Elk Grove Village. Proof of residency will be required.
Village residents can drop off electronics each Monday at the Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. Your cooperation in adhering to the times and dates is much appreciated.
Electronics will only be accepted on Mondays. Electronics from businesses, churches and schools will NOT be accepted.
The program begins on April 3, 2017 and lasts through November.

When: Saturday, Oct. 22 2016. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
Where: The west parking lot of Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg.
Who: Schaumburg residents only (participants will be asked to show ID)
What: Shredding event. The limit is up to two banker boxes of documents per household. DocuShred will have a shredder on site and residents can witness their documents entering the shredder. This will be available until the truck reaches capacity.
What: Paint Recycling: Epaint Recycling Solutions will give residents the opportunity to dispose of those old paint cans that are taking up valuable shelf space. Good News! Epaint Recycling is now excepting Oil Based and Latex Paints for recycling. Charges apply as follows:
quart = $1.00/can
gallon cans = $2.00/pail
5 gallon pail = $9.00/pail
Oil Based Paint/Stains:
quart = $4.00/can
gallon cans = $8.00/pail
5 gallon pail = $20.00/pail

Elgin Recycling will provide electronics recycling to include computers, small appliances, electronic toys, copper wire and more… Click here for a list. Televisions and monitors will incur a charge as follows:
$25 per each TV/monitor up to 21” (not including LCD monitors)
$35 per each TV/monitor 22” and above (not including LCD monitors)
$55 per each wood console/rear projection TV
$5 per each LCD monitor
$5 additional charge for any of the above with a cracked or broken screen
Both cash and major credit cards will be accepted.
Cash or Credit to be paid to Elgin Recycling at the event.
Hazardous waste, oil, antifreeze, clothes, fire extinguishers, large appliances, and anything that is not listed above.

If you miss some of the electronic recycling events in Schaumburg Township, it is always possible to turn to ABT in Glenview. They have a very active recycling program and accept a wide variety of items.
Who: ABT (a large electronic and appliance store). Open to the public.
Where: 1200 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Glenview
When: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 1pm to 7pm. Closed: Wednesday and Sunday
Simply bring items to the merchandise pickup area of the store and they’ll take them from you there. Small appliances and electronic devices are recycled completely free of charge. However, the following fees apply to recycling TVs:
- Tube TVs 27 Inches and Smaller: $25
- Tube TVs 32 Inches and Larger: $50
- Flat Panel TVs 32 Inches and Smaller: $20
- Flat Panel TV 33 Inches and Larger: $35
- Projection TVs: $75
Large quantities of computers or other electronics will also be accepted, at a cost of $0.40 per pound.
They also take in wood pallets, cardboard, paper, batteries, plastic (industrial wrap only), Styrofoam (white only). We do not accept glass, light bulbs including Christmas lights, cd/dvd/vhs tapes, and white Styrofoam peanuts.

Where: Schaumburg Township Parking Lot, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates
Items accepted are: computer/IT equipment, cell phones, batteries, small appliances, home and office electronics. CRT monitors and tube TVs will NOT be accepted for free. There is a $35-50 disposal charge for tube TVs and a $10 charge for CRT monitors. Payment is made by cash or check only.
Paper shredding is limited to 4 letter/legal size banker boxes or bags no larger than 1 cubic feet or 15″ x 12″ x 10″. All items other than paper clips, staples and rubber bands need to be removed.
Savers Donation drive will accept various household goods at this event. Clothing, shoes, bedding, towels, accessories such as purses, belts, etc., toys, games, sports equipment, electrical items, jewelery, books, CDs and DVDs, and more will be accepted. Remember to grab a receipt from staff if you donate your household goods. Savers will give a donation to the Township food pantry for every pound of goods collected.
