The Conservation Foundation is conducting its 25th Annual River Sweep, a countrywide clean-up which encourages citizens to improve local waterways by removing debris and litter from a section of stream or pond. The event is being held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 9 a.m. to Noon.

The Salt Creek Watershed Network is holding a Salt Creek Clean Up on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help restore Salt Creek to its natural state and keep this precious natural resource clean and attractive.
Over the past 22 years, this program has cleaned up 75 cubic yards of garbage from the creek, including bicycle and car parts, construction material and other debris. Volunteers will meet at the Elk Grove High School parking lot at 9:00 a.m.

Schaumburg Road on Saturdays, June 14. Work will be done from 9-1 and volunteers are welcome during any of those hours. Dress appropriately for work–especially your feet!

The Northwest Cook County Group of the Sierra Club is continuing their restoration work at Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary in Schaumburg. Any who wish to participate should meet in the Spring Valley parking lot at 1111 E. Schaumburg Road on Saturday, May 22 at 8:45 a.m. Work will proceed until 12:00. Gloves and tools will be provided.
Helping restore this native habitat is the Group’s way of saying thank you to Spring Valley for the use of their meeting room.
The Hoffman Estates Environmental Commission is sponsoring the 12th annual Hoffman Estates Village Improvement Day on Saturday, April 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The village has identified an array of open spaces, parks and creek lines that need attention. Environmental Commission members will be on hand to coordinate the work and assist the volunteers. Work will be limited to trash pickup and the village will provide the bags.
The event will kick off at the Public Works Center at 2305 Pembroke Ave. at 9:00 a.m. Free T-shirts will be distributed to those helping while supplies last. All minors must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
