Residents of the Schaumburg Township communities of Hoffman Estates and Elk Grove Village are welcome to participate in a document destruction event sponsored by SWANCC, the Solide Waste Agency of Northern Cook County. 

When:  September 18, 9-11
Where:  Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road
What:  There is no cost to attend but IDs must be shown proving residency. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove binders.  Residents from a SWANCC member community may participate in events in any community.



AL LARSON ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

The Schaumburg Environmental Committee and village staff are happy to announce a new “green” recognition program for both residential and non-residential properties.

This program will support and promote the “green” actions taken by village businesses and residents. These actions can address any of the following award categories: energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources, recycling programs and use of recycled content products, “green” product use and use of recycled content materials, water conservation, transportation, outreach and education, and other innovated projects and programs.

ELECTRONICS & LATEX PAINT RECYCLING EVENT

On Saturday, August 21 from 9:00-2:00, the village of Hoffman Estates will be accepting household electronic items and latex paint for recycling at the Susan H. Kenley-Rupnow Public Works Center located at 2305 Pembroke Ave.  This program is being held for Hoffman Estates residents only and proof of residency will be required.

There will be a charge for the paint recycling.  Charges are $1 per quart container, $2 per gallon container and $7 per five gallon container.  There will be no charge for electronic items.

Only the following electronic items will be accepted: 

• Computers – PCs and Laptops
• Computer Monitors
• DVD Players
• Fax Machines
• Mobile Phones
• MP3 Players
• PDAs
• Peripherals
  (Mice, Keyboards, Drives)
• Printers
• Scanners
• TVs
• VHS Players
• Video Game Consoles
