FALL RECYCLING EVENT IN SCHAUMBURG

Paint cansThe Village of Schaumburg is hosting a Fall Recycling Event that will include electronics and paint recycling as well as document shredding!

When:  Saturday, Oct. 22 2016. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.

Where:  The west parking lot of Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg.

Who:  Schaumburg residents only (participants will be asked to show ID)

What:  Shredding event.  The limit is up to two banker boxes of documents per household.  DocuShred will have a shredder on site and residents can witness their documents entering the shredder.  This will be available until the truck reaches capacity.

What:  Paint Recycling: Epaint Recycling Solutions will give residents the opportunity to dispose of those old paint cans that are taking up valuable shelf space. Good News! Epaint Recycling is now excepting Oil Based and Latex Paints for recycling. Charges apply as follows:

Latex Paint:

quart = $1.00/can

gallon cans = $2.00/pail

5 gallon pail = $9.00/pail

Oil Based Paint/Stains:

quart = $4.00/can

gallon cans = $8.00/pail

5 gallon pail = $20.00/pail

CASH ONLY to be paid to Epaint Recycling Solutions.

What:  Electronics Recycling:  

Elgin Recycling will provide electronics recycling to include computers, small appliances, electronic toys, copper wire and more… Click here for a list. Televisions and monitors will incur a charge as follows:

$25 per each TV/monitor up to 21” (not including LCD monitors)

$35 per each TV/monitor 22” and above (not including LCD monitors)

$55 per each wood console/rear projection TV

$5 per each LCD monitor

$5 additional charge for any of the above with a cracked or broken screen

Both cash and major credit cards will be accepted.

Cash or Credit to be paid to Elgin Recycling at the event.

Not Accepted:

Hazardous waste, oil, antifreeze, clothes, fire extinguishers, large appliances, and anything that is not listed above.

UNWANTED MEDICATION DROP OFF

MedicationWhat:  Hanover Park residents can now properly dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications, medicated ointments and shampoos, liquid medicines in original non-leaking containers, prescription and over-the-counter inhalers, and glass thermometers containing mercury.

  • Pills and liquid medication bottles should be placed in zipper top plastic bags.
  • Medications may be disposed of in their original containers, but personal prescription information should be removed from containers.
  • Labels on medications are not required.
  • The RxBox Program does not accept sharps.When:  24 hours a days, seven days a week.

    Where:  The RxBox, is located in the Hanover Park Police Department’s front lobby at 2011 W. Lake Street in Hanover Park.

    Who:  Medications may only be brought in by residents.
