FAHRRAD TOUR von SCHAUMBURG

Join in the fun at the Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg Bike Ride and Picnic!

On Sunday, May 20, 2018 come celebrate Schaumburg’s heritage and extensive bike route network with a seven mile ride on off-street bike paths and on-street bike lanes before winding up at the grounds of Schaumburg’s beautiful Atcher Municipal Center.

The ride will begin and end at the Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg.  The start time is 12:00 noon with the ride ending at 2:15.  Afterwards there will be food and entertainment.

Pre-registration is not required for this free event.  Beginners and riders with training wheels are not advised to participate.

MARKET @ THE METRA–IN HANOVER PARK!

Looking for that perfect treasure at a reasonable price?  Find it at Market @ The Metra, a combination craft sale and community garage sale of old and new items, that is sponsored by the Village of Hanover Park.  Food vendors will also be on hand to provide refreshment.  The event is free and will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:00 to 4:00 at the Hanover Park Commuter Lot at the intersection of Barrington Road and Lake Street.

Boy Scout Troop 398 will be preparing food for event participants and selling hot dogs, burgers, drinks, etc.

Additional food vendors are invited to sell approved pre-packaged food items and must also contact the Village Clerk’s office.  They may submit their registration for approval a week prior to the event.

Set-up for all vendors the day of the event starts at 7:00 am and closes at 9:00 am.

 

There will be no rain date scheduled for the event.  Fees are nonrefundable.  Any unsold spaces will be sold at the gate the morning of the sale on a first-come, first-served basis.

Where:  Oakton Fire Station 8, 1000 Oakton Street, Elk Grove Village,  IL.

Please bring an ID or utility bill to verify your address.

BIKE TO WORK DAY!

The League of American Bicyclists is sponsoring Bike To Work Week from May 18, 2018.

In commemoration of National Bike To Work Day, you can meet at Meineke Park on Friday, May 18  for a bike ride to inspire you to continue biking as an option to driving.  The ride will kick off at the park at 220 E. Weathersfield Way at 9:30 a.m.

The ride will end at the Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court off of Summit.

NATIVE PLANT SALE

native-plant1In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Spring Valley and the Schaumburg Community Garden Club is sponsoring their annual Native Plant Sale and Backyards for Nature Fair.  Pictures and descriptions of native wildflowers, grasses, trees and shrubs are online at www.schaumburggardenclub.com.

Pre-orders are being accepted through Friday, May 5.  Quantities and varieties cannot be guaranteed for orders received after a certain date.  Once your form is completed, payment will be accepted in the form of credit card or check made payable to Spring Valley Nature Center.  All sales are final.

Pre-Order pick-up is:

Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM
Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 10 AM to 2 PM

Please visit on Sunday, TENT SALE DAY, as additional plants and shrubs may be available for purchase on that day!

A shuttle bus service will be available on Sunday for additional parking.  Overflow parking is at the administration building of District 54, 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.   Assistance will be provided to load your plants onto the bus for the return trip to District 54.
