In affiliation with Recycling Avenue of Palatine, a non-profit organization that employs the physically and mentally challenged, the Schaumburg Township District Library is sponsoring a small electronics Recycling Drive for the entire month of October.

Items accepted are:
–Cell phones
–DVDs, game consoles
–MP3 players
–Print cartridges
–Digital cameras and Digital video recorders
–Laptops/Notebooks

Dropoff bins will be in the lobbies of the Central Library, Hanover Park Branch and the Hoffman Estates Branch for the month of October.

CELL PHONE COLLECTION SUCCESS!

The Cell Phones for Soldiers collection program that was sponsored by the library was a rousing success thanks to the generous donations of our library visitors.  Over 400 phones and accessories were collected and will be sold to ReCellular for recycling.  Proceeds will be used to buy prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops.  Many thanks to all who donated.  We couldn’t have done it without you!



LATEX PAINT DROP-OFF

Who:  Hoffman Estates residents only.  A proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, will be required.
When:  The first Friday of every month from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Where:  Hoffman Estates Public Works Center 
             2305 Pembroke Avenue
             Hoffman Estates, IL

ELECTRONICS RECYCLING & PAPER SHREDDING EVENT

Do you have old computers, digital clocks, or hand held games that have outlived their usefulness?  Are you unsure how to dispose of them?  Here is the perfect opportunity!  The Village of Schaumburg and District 54 are sponsoring an electronic recycling and paper shredding event extravaganza that will allow you to dispose of items in a green and efficient way.

Who:  Village of Schaumburg and District 54
When:  Saturday, September 13, 2008.  10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Where:  District 54 Administrative Offices
            524 E. Schaumburg Road
            Schaumburg
What:  Accepted items for the Electronics Recycling include:  Personal computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, electronic mice, hard drives, CD ROM/Zip/Tape drives, modems, cords and cables (power, USB, etc.), CDs, DVDs, floppy discs, UPS (battery backups), printers of all types, VCRs, DVD players, Laser Disc players, digital clocks, portable radio/CD players, speakers/stereo systems, CBs/two-way radios, telephones, cell phones, answering machines, cameras of all types, palm organizers, hand held games, video game players, calculators, joysticks/game controls, adding machines, typewriters/word processors, copy/fax/scanner machines, pagers, and paper shredders.
What:  A limit of 2 copy boxes per resident is allowed for the Document Destruction event.
What:  A CFL lightbulb pick-up is limited to Village of Schaumburg residents only.
