Are you feeling overwhelmed with all of the piles of paper in your house? If so, it’s the Schaumburg Township District Library to the rescue! In June we will be sponsoring our first ever document shredding event for the public. See the details below for instruction.

What: Limit of 2 copy paper boxes of documents.
Who: Hanover Park Public Works Facility in conjunction with DuPage County and SIMS Recycling Solutions
When: Beginning May 10, 2010
Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.
Where: Hanover Park Public Works Facility
2121 W. Lake Street, Hanover Park
What: Computers, CPUs, monitors, keyboards, televisions, radios, microwaves, laptops, printers, cell phones, UPS systems, PDU’s, fax machines, phones, DVD players, VCR’s and stereo equipment. Items containing liquids or refrigerants will not be accepted.
Businesses may not participate.

The Northwest Cook County Group of the Sierra Club is continuing their restoration work at Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary in Schaumburg. Any who wish to participate should meet in the Spring Valley parking lot at 1111 E. Schaumburg Road on Saturday, May 22 at 8:45 a.m. Work will proceed until 12:00. Gloves and tools will be provided.
Helping restore this native habitat is the Group’s way of saying thank you to Spring Valley for the use of their meeting room.

What: Motor oil/Anti-freeze, American flags, Fire extinguishers, ALL batteries, eye glasses, hearing aids, scrap metal (metal swing-sets, metal patio furniture, washers/dryers etc.), ink jet cartridges, keys, cell phones, gym shoes, bikes & bike parts, document shredding (limit 3 boxes/bags per person–NO HARD COVERS OR PLASTIC BINDERS), prescription drugs, styrofoam packing materials, computers and electronics.

Now that spring is here and everyone has discovered their used household chemical wastes in their garages and basements, it’s time to think of how to get rid of those bottles and cans without dumping them in your garbage or down your drains.
Unfortunately, the state of Illinois has yet to issue their annual calendar of local dropoff dates. To pick up the slack, Lake County is sponsoring a dropoff for all Illinois residents. See the information below:
