Come to the Green Side

The Library’s Green Committee invites you to an Environmental Fair from1-3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30 in the Rasmussen Room on the second floor.  Admission is free.  Representatives from the following groups are scheduled to attend:

  • Hoffman Estates Garden Club
  • Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards
  • River Trail Nature Center
  • Schaumburg Bicycle Club
  • Spring Valley Nature Center
  • SCARCE [School & Community Assistance for Recycling & Composting Education
  • The Tomato Lady
  • The Urban Worm Girl

The following Ecological & Fair Trade Retailers will also be on hand:

  • It’s Our Earth
  • SARET Treasures of Hope
  • Ten Thousand Villages

Staff members Niki Martinez and Steven Zanfardino will demonstrate crafts and present “Go Green Awareness Activities.”

The following items will also be collected for recycling:

  • Used crayons
  • Eyeglasses
  • Flags
  • Keys

It would be nice have something like this in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The only thing we have is a recycling center. It would help the people understand why we have to recycle to not to fill up are landfills. We will have not more room for land for the landfills. It cost to much to open up new landfills in the future.
